Thunderbolts* Spoiler Free Review

Introduction

I’ll start off by saying that I really enjoyed this movie. I think any Marvel fan should see it because it’s definitely going to be important for the upcoming group movies and Marvel going forward, but I also think it was just a great time. This is one of my top 3 favorites that Marvel has come out with since Endgame, up there with Spiderman: No Way Home, Deadpool and Wolverine, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it is definitely one of the best they have put out, probably my second favorite behind No Way Home.

The Good

The pacing of the film was done really well. All the character introductions, or I should say, reintroductions, were great. It wasn’t too difficult to gather who was who without having seen Black Widow or Falcon and the Winter Soldier or Ant-Man and the Wasp, which I think was definitely a good movie on Marvel’s part, not making it totally necessary to watch EVERY show and movie they have ever put out to understand a bigger movie that most people are going to see.

I thought Sentry was also a super cool character and they handled him really well, but I won’t go deep into details since this is a spoiler free review.

The characters were awesome and the action sequences were some of the coolest in the MCU, the acting was amazing, especially from Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, there was also a lot of serious sequences, and it also was just a fresh take on a new story with old characters that many of us already knew and loved, and for those just now joining, you’re going to love all these new heroes.

I also appreciated how much was done on location with actual set pieces, I mean Florence Pugh jumped off the second highest building in the world for the movie, come on! That’s awesome! There wasn’t a lot of CGI, and everything looked super authentic and great.

What I Disliked

Without spoiling anything, I will say I didn’t enjoy how they handled a specific character, but there are rumors that they are going to be replaced in upcoming movies or shows. I think once you watch it you’ll know what I mean/ But that’s a small detail that doesn’t hinder the whole movie.

Also, for the most part the comedy was put to good use and in good places, but there definitely were some more serious moments that had a joke in there that I didn’t think was necessary, but it didn’t happen often and even when it did it didn’t mess up any pacing or any part of the movie.

So basically, there were very few things that I disliked about the movie, I thought pretty much everything was a home run.

My couch rating: 9.3/10
